Atelier Alter was invited by the Kazan city government to design a central island on Lake Kaban, in the heart of the Tatarstan capital. Developed with the local practice Bespoke Architects, the landscape project sets out to strengthen the distinctiveness and modernity of Tatar culture, and to give the city a more concentrated place from which to enjoy performances on the water.

Kazan is a city with more than a thousand years of history, a meeting point of steppe, Islamic and Christian cultures, and host of the 2024 BRICS summit and the BRICS Sport Games. The design answers this setting with a chain of linked islands and footbridges that cross the lake, each given its own theme in the project film, among them water, festival, museum, market, monument, music, fishing, playground and meditation. A slim monument tower anchors the composition, and terraced gardens, planted edges, steps down to the water and fountains turn the lake surface into public space.

The proposal was shown at the KAZANISH architecture and construction forum on 15 December 2023, where Atelier Alter was the only foreign design team. It was viewed by the Mayor of Kazan and the chief architects of Kazan and Moscow, and Atelier Alter presented the lecture "Between Syntax and Context".

时境建筑受喀山市政府邀请，设计位于鞑靼斯坦首府市中心卡班湖上的湖心小岛。项目与当地事务所 Bespoke Architects 合作完成，希望通过一个景观项目强化鞑靼文化的独特性与现代性，并提供一个更加集中的欣赏水上演出的场所。

喀山拥有千余年历史，是草原文化、伊斯兰文化与基督教文化的交汇点，也是2024年金砖国家会议及金砖运动会的举办城市。方案以一串由步桥相连的小岛横跨湖面回应这一场景，项目视频中各岛有各自的主题，包括水、节庆、博物馆、市集、纪念、音乐、垂钓、游乐与冥想；一座细长的纪念塔统领整体，梯田式花园、绿化岸线、通向水面的台阶与喷泉，把湖面变成公共空间。

方案于2023年12月15日在喀山“KAZANISH”建筑与建设论坛展出，时境是论坛中唯一的境外设计团队；喀山市长、喀山首席建筑师和莫斯科首席建筑师观看并给予称赞，时境并发表了题为“Between Syntax and Context”的演讲。
