Jinan National Treasure Paradise Theater济南国宝乐园剧场

National Treasure: Enchanted Theater is a 3,000 m² children's theatre and education centre in Jinan, built around the National Treasure cultural brand. Everything here is dynamic: a sequence of still moments strung together into changing forms of performance, overlapping teaching spaces and many ways to interact.

In the theatre, movable screens work with a temporary stage set up inside the hall. Placed in different directions, the screens either scatter or enclose, constantly redrawing the performance space as actors move, so that a limited room produces an unlimited range of scenes. The floor is a giant jigsaw: every piece is a folding seat that can be pulled up and combined into irregular patterns for meetings or performances. With no fixed front or back, children can shift their viewpoint as the action moves and interact directly with the actors.

Outside the theatre, the central public space beneath the existing roof truss becomes its backstage. Stage installations, acoustics and lighting form an indoor landscape, while indoor trees and potted plants create a large playground for rest and play. Installations hung from above, set on the ground, standing upright or turned upside down make visitors ask which way is up. Each teaching room for culture, dance and aesthetic education is a screen enclosure caught at rest; their façades unfold three-dimensional perspective through different materials, turning the walkway into a hall of mirrors where the observer also becomes the observed.
