Tonino Lamborghini Center Rui'an瑞安托尼诺·兰博基尼中心

Rui'an is known worldwide for its electric-vehicle components, a key link in the new-energy vehicle industry. That industry stands for speed and the future, and the city's rapid growth and ambition in the field are written into its urban face. The design turns this forward momentum into architectural form: massive, powerful lines sweep from the city into the building, giving it a strong sense of force, while reflective surfaces lend it a futuristic presence.

The project comprises three parts — a ground-level city plaza, a podium of commercial space and an auditorium, and an office tower. Such urban modules usually have little to do with one another. Here a large ribbon-like concave form runs through all three, from the entrance plaza to the podium façade and into the tower's offices, binding them with a single continuous layer. It shapes the entrance plaza, animates the façade and opens into an indoor viewing platform that looks out over the pulse of the city, while presenting one coherent urban image.

The concave mirrored ribbons set into the glass curtain wall embed the cityscape into the building's volume in a surreal way, so that the reflected image becomes part of the building material itself. The speed-driven form, overlaid with an artificially transformed reflection of the city, reinforces the urban character of the architecture on both a material and an abstract level. Formerly known as Ruian Qiaomao Tower, the building was renamed Tonino Lamborghini Center Rui'an.
